No reason for Dallas to trade Oettinger for a worse goalie who is also more expensive. Nothing against Petersen, but we r talking about two different levels of play here.

Lol. Cal Peterson makes what Jake’s agent is trying to get for Jake in Dallas.
And then you sign Jake for less in LA.

Big pass from Dallas

Yeah Jim Nill isn't dealing Jake Oettinger for a bunch of worthless plugs. Dallas passes big time.

I wouldn't trade a 1st round pick for a goaltender with one season of success. Goalies are too inconsistent to judge based off a small sample size.

Cal Petersen had better numbers than Jake Oettinger at the same point of his career.

I'm completely reminded of Jose Theodore's Hart Trophy.

He had one more good season after his Hart, and the rest of his career I'd say was below average.

I would have been upset if I offered up a haul for him coming out of the lockout.

Thats 1 pretty extreme example, maybe go run that opinion by Rangers fans on Shesterkin. Betting on a player to suddenly fall off after performing excellent is really pesemistic.

Cal Petersen is looking the same way. As I said, his numbers were better than Oettinger's at the same stage of his career, now the Kings would have to pay to move him.

Martin Jones is another good example. Kings fans were very high on him when he was called up to cover for Quick's groin injury in 2014. His numbers were insane. Had a couple good seasons after that for San Jose, then his play fell off a cliff.

Those are all examples from just the Kings.
