Geez 1 1st, 2nd, and a possible future 2nd line winger for a defenseman that never hit 30 points? When you think Ryan Ellis got moved for N. Patrick & P. Myers.... D. Toews 2 2nd rounders... Lindholm a 1st and 2 2nd's but Lindholm is the better player here.... So the trade proposal is a legit one. Anything more than that is definitely an overpay

Well then you don’t need Pesce, since the Canes won’t be moving him unless it’s a massive overpay. Canes have no reason to move Pesce, and they don’t want to either, so unless you are offering up a package that actually has value in it to help the Canes win NOW, your package of futures can sit on the shelf and rot. Besides, you look at those very same names you mentioned, they are all on the more offensive side of the dman spectrum. Pesce is more of a defensive 2-way dman, so he won’t have the offensive game the others have. Not to mention, Toews and Ellis were more of a cap casualty, and Lindholm was traded for futures. That is also all before bringing up the fact that Pesce is a RHD on a steal of a contract, and in his prime. You don’t get any of those for cheap, particularly if the team has no interest in moving them.

And for what it’s worth, unless Ottawa is starting with Zub, Carolina won’t consider a trade.

Zaitsev's play would hurt the Sabres. So Ottawa can keep him and as they would play him to justify the cap hit.

Lets be honest... The Sabres aren't going anywhere this year outside of fight for Bedard. As I said you don't have to use the picks to select players in the draft, you use them as trade currency to get a piece you need. It's not that difficult. Plus like I said, Zaitsev helps you land a solid pick in one of the most deep drafts in a long time. Anyways I will stand by proposal I don't believe it's an out of the question trade.

It would be Adams that would be accepting the sweeteners for Zaitsev.... Karmanos would be accepting a 1st, 2nd, and solid prospect for Pesche who has 2 years on his contract left with the Canes over the cap ceiling by $2M.
Adams became really smart when Karmanos was named the "Associate General Manager".
I would hope Karmanos would accept the trade.
    Waddell is Carolina's GM.

Re; Pesce - Clearly there is a huge disconnect here between a players neutral trade value and what his value is to his team. You can post a trade that provides ample return value in a vacuum but still doesn’t make any sense. No reason for the Canes to move any of their top 4 defenseman (Slavin/Burns Skjei/Pesce)

Did I also see conversation here about how the Canes are going to make cap space? I can think of about 15 ways they can do this that do not require include Pesce…

Canes are in a 2-3 year window for a cup…Pesce a big part of this.
