It's a bit weird looking but I don't hate it. I'm pretty excited for hockey to return.

Idea behind Engvall on the 2nd line is that he can provide speed, defensive coverage, and swap in and out with Robertson so Robertson's minutes are a bit more sheltered. It also lets Robertson play with some higher-skilled players than the fourth line.

Idea behind Muzzin trade was that it opens up cap and a roster spot for signing Sandin longer term (I used the Boqvist deal as a comparable) and Arizona can retain more and get a bigger return by selling him to another team at the deadline. Muzzin is still an effective player but signing Sandin takes priority. NTC's are thought of as gospel on this site but they're more of a "choose where you want to go", as evidenced by the McDonagh trade.

I hope the Leafs sign ZAR because I think he could help out the PK in a big way after Mikheyev's departure. Keeping Kerfoot was in this line of thinking as well.

Leaving this much cap means we can sign Knies to 925,000 at the end of the year and have space to fit him with two extras (provided no one is hurt).

Tbh I don’t think Muzzin would need to be paid to have dumped. I could see a team viewing him like McDonagh

The problem with this, and all similar, schemes is that Muzzin has an absolute NTC for this entire season.

There is no comparison between McDonagh agreeing to waive to Nashville, and Muzzin (or any player) agreeing to waive to Arizona. Sorry Leaf fans, Muzzin is a Leaf in 22/23.

Got a feeling Sandin's gonna give in and sign the 2 year 1.4mill deal

So his cap hit next season probs gonna be 1.4mill and if you think about it, makes stupid sense

As for one big cap rise and second Muzzin, Gio and Brodie are done so he can make 4-5mill by then if he fully proves himself
