Final Moves Before Season and TDL

Created by: TMLBRIAN
Team: 2022-23 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 11, 2022
Published: Sep. 11, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Montreal fans are super high on Evans but they get 2 nice prospects. New York get a very good bottom 6 centre who is signed for several years at a good cap and a hard working prospect/winger at almost league min.

Any Anderson deal assumes that the buying team actually views him as a positive asset and not a cap dump. I can see Pitsburgh being one of those teams.

Drouin half retained to Colorado for a 2nd could be good for all 3 parties. A healthy Drouin would be very helpful for Colorado.

Edmonton sheds cap and gets a big defensive minded RHD and a proven goal scorer half retained and a 3rd. Montreal get another 1st rounder (top 10 protected), a mobile, point producing RHD and a middle 6 forward who needs a fresh start.

Dvorak to a team who needs C/W depth for their top 9. I think he has positive value. Colorado could be another option for him as well.

Reaves half retained at the deadline for a 3rd-5th round pick (only if there are no suitors for Monahan or Zucker half retained). I could see the Leafs being interested in Reeves at the deadline under these circumstances.

Montreal would be set up very nicely for the future.

Rangers pass, They want a young C prospect for Nils Lundkvist, And you don't provide one other than a 26 year old Jake Evans and the Rangers can't afford to take on his $1,700,000 x 3 year cap hit.

I disagree fully. They would consider all of these. They may not pull the trigger on all of them though. Look how many picks they get and look how much cap they shed for the years moving forward. Plus they keep all their core guys that they would want to build around.

I definitely think you are way off on your assessments.

Rangers are in win now mode. Evans is a centre and would help them win NOW and for the next 2 years after. The cap works with Reaves coming back over in the trade.

Evans is a nice piece and would be great on a contender (I am a Leafs fan by the way)

avs decline, Drouin would be on the 3rd line and his poor defensively ability would be a liability in that deployment. At the cost of a 2nd round pick and eating up all their cap space that they could use to add more meaningful additions of need at the TDL, not a fit there

There's one offer on the table for Lundkvist and they are trying to move him. Temper your expectations. Drury wants to look fair and give him a chance to play on another team. He wont return more than a 2nd.

Why would the pens consider him an asset and not a cap dump. If Zucker at 5.5 million for 1 year is a cap dump then Anderson at 5.5 million for his contract is a way worse one and the 1st rounder should be going the other way. So pens absolutely decline and counter Zucker for Anderson and an unprotected 1st and 3rd. Zucker is about a .5 ppg player and so is Anderson. And I think the pens and any team would rather get out of the contract much sooner.
