Thanks to the disastrous Murray trade, the Leafs are going to have to "gift" Kerfoot and his full cap to likely Arizona (Kerfoot is owed just 750,000 in actual $$$) and then they cap room to sign Sandin and then have 22 man roster. Yikes the 7th Dmen of Benn and Mete....who will get time due to injury....that's scary. If you remember the Nylander situation, the longer a player misses the regular season, then signs the higher the cap.. Nylander's cap hit was over 10m in the first year of his new contract.

Yes but the team isn't charged that extra cap hit. He will still have the same daily cap hit. They will start with 20. That's all I know for now.

Avs dont need a Winger who was constantly in the doghouse in Colorado bc the head coach did not like or trust the player. There is a reason why the moved on from him so quickly

He is the leafs 2C when injuries happen. He has done fine when called upon. Like the 21 playoffs.

The issue with Kaut is having to pass through waivers, as he didn't make the Leafs' roster here. Ranta would be a better fit.

That is a good point. There are itherwaiver exempt options.
