I like it for the Avs, not sure if SJS would do it though

Merkley was a risk pick at the time for attitude issues. Idk if that’s an issue anymore, but I can see SJ move on from him for another “project fresh start” player.

If sharks land Lundquvist then i could totally see this deal happening, otherwise he have so little in RD near NHL prospects with Laroque being the next guy and still 1-2 years out from seeing playing time and 2-4 years from being top 4 guy and the rest of the RD prospects being 3-5 years out (if ever)

I don’t see San Jose considering this at all. RD is a big position of need for San Jose whereas RW like Kaut is jam packed with prospects. Kaut hasn’t established himself in the nhl either.

sharks are so thin right now at RW, yes Coe looks like a future middle 6 power forward RW and weisblatt and Robbins look to be solid NHL RW but having another guy who has skill and size and is young would be helpful. but again only if we can land Lundqvist first.

Kaut can play with the Sharks day 1 of this season. No room for him in Colorado and he’s got a top 6 upside. He needs the minutes.

He wouldn’t make the lineup this year or likely next year, he would be an ahler, I don’t see how it makes sense. Barabanov, Labanc, Kunin and Lorentz all have nhl experience and would be ahead of him. Gregor and other depth guys who play both left and right wing are ahead of him plus our more skilled prospects. I just don’t see why giving up a RD when we have 2 makes sense for ahl player

Merkley is the poster child for the character issues the Avs have cleared and kept out of their room. Avs need to stay clear, could be waiver cliam and I say pass.

with the sharks we’ve had zero attitude issues. my only issue is he is undersized and i prefer bigger D, especially with so many higher level prospects we have being undersized.

Hey, its more how they use what they have than the size of the D.
Im glad he hasnt caused issues yet. I wish him the best, I just don't want him anywhere near the Avs and the special thing they've build personality wise.

Colorado are an organisation that values character a lot, and players coming in (like Manson and Cogliano) often speak of it being the best room they've been in. Needless to say I doubt the Avs would have much interest in guys with known character issues.

They welcome it though. Big risk at the time for Kadri (anger issue instead of character though)
