cant see the jets retaining that much. i think you'd have to send compher back and remove foudy.

I forgot to add a 2nd.

I don't see Jets having any want for Compher.

In case you want to carry on the discussion here. If there's no Newhook there's definitely no Scheifele at this TDL, if you want the Jets to retain for the end of the year and the following year.

It's Canada's wealthiest family, even in maple syrup bucks, they can afford it. Cap space shouldn't be a problem if theyre going full rebuild. (I know, you never go full rebuild lol)

It's more likely JLF plays in the NHL than JTC resigns in the Peg. Outside of Newhook, I don't think Avs have the centers to get the deal done. Maybe if Meyers was ok with it, send him over. However, I don't want the Avs to become the new Knights after what Franky said about his amazing treatment.

You're probably right. If its Newhook involved, it's probably closer to a 1 for 1. The end of the 22-23 season retention isn't really anything to value. Next season, milk those gm's dry.

I think a lot of people are underrating Sheifele's value. More than a ppg 1C on a criminally cheap deal for the next 2 years. Not to mention hes a righty. Winnipeg doesnt have that much in the pipeline up the middle for a few more years. Perfetti and Barron are solid pieces so far but since i'm not positive Dubois is staying, I dont see Winnipeg trading Scheifele. Unless theyre given a deal they cant refuse. Doesnt make much sense to trade a 1C of his caliber in his prime just to get younger or more prospects. Because of the fact that the jets are the age they are, a rebuild doesnt make any sense to me. Connor, Ehlers, Morrissey, Pionk, Hellebuyck. Too many guys that are into their primes on this team. I seriously doubt any of them would want to go into a rebuild or retool and wait longer to compete. A Scheifele trade only works if they blow it sky high and trade everyone of value

I don't think this undervalues him by much if at all. His character is seriously in question and may not be a fit for the Avs based off that. It would be 1 year of retention. Post TDL isn't really a point to argue over as most salary is paid out and sellers aren't in the race.

Yeah, the and of this year isn't the problem, but that isn't tempting enough for the Jets to take on $3 mil of dead cap the following year.

You’d need quite a bit more if they’re retaining 3 million Olausson and a 1st + Foudy (who probably won’t be an NHL player) that’s not even enough for Scheifele without retainment nevermind with it

I like Scheifele's skating and offense, but he is an absolute liability defensively, and he has attitude issues from what I've heard. Not sure he'd be good to bring into the locker room.
