don’t see how johnson moves the needle, they’d just have the same backlog issue they have with lundkvist except johnson in all likelihood won’t sign because he won’t see an opportunity.

Why give him away for free? Chances are the Sabres already know Johnson isn't going to sign. Being the 5th/6th LHD in the system doesn't make a player any money. He'd be in the same situation on the Rangers. Behind guys already in the AHL. Then battling for a 15 minute a game 3rd pair LHD. Why sign there?

Puljujarvi was disgruntled with EDM. One year away and he was back. Kratsov in NYR. Pilut on the Sabres left and is back. Happens.
