Dickinson is signed for more term AND more money than Bear.

Bear outperformed Dickinson last year in fewer games as a DEFENSEMAN.

Bear plays a premium position at RD. Where would Dickinson play on the Canes?

You might want to go back to the drawing board here with this absurdity.

I understand Vancouver's need to move salary for this. I really do. But the Canes are not going to want to take NHL money back. And especially for any player they don't want. They will either have to move on and deal with another team or wait for Vancouver to move salary elsewhere. Those are going to be the confines of a deal between these two teams. I know cap is tight everywhere, but that's what we're working with here.

Take out Dickinson and sure. Ain't Carolina's problem you can't afford Bear, figure it out elsewhere

Dickinson would be a 13th forward for the Canes. Defensive depth - especially a RFA RHD - far more valuable to the Canes, both trade value and roster value.

I think there is a misconception that the Canes would trade Bear for a pick and they will take anything - not true. They would make a hockey trade for a player who could help us this year, or futures which provides cap space.
