What are you talking about? Newhook is the new 2C, Lehkonen ran in the top 6 throughout the playoffs and will be in the top 6 all season. Only one spot (Landeskog) is missing off what the projected top 6 and just a bet but Georgiev numbers go up just a tad playing behind the best d-corp in the league.

Newhook is an unproven player, Lehkonen may have played in the top six but he is definitely not a top six talent. And yeah I think Georgiev will be better but there are still a lot of question marks.

Go ahead tell yourself Lehkonen isn’t a top 6 guy because COL management sure does, and if Bednar holds true he’s going to play with MacKinnon and Ranten a lot. 100% agree there are question about Georgiev but again COL management picked him before FA even started, plus he isn’t going to be playing 60 games Francouz is going to play a lot. Regardless of the questions that there are (and there are some) the d-corp is other worldly w/the best dman in the league another top 10 dman in the league, and Byram who is going to be a monster.

Nichushkin might well start the season out on injury too.

Lehkonen might not have top 6 talent in terms of offensive skills (his shot and playmaking are more 3rd line level), and on a team like Montreal he was a 3rd liner.

But for the way the Avs play where his elite fore-checking is highly valued he absolutely is a top 6 forward who's skillset perfectly complements the elite scoring talent around him.

His scoring rate in the regular season and playoffs in Colorado is also at a top 6 level.

There were question marks with Kuemper and Grubauer too. Georgiev will be fine, though he'll probably have a slow start while getting adjusted to systems just as all goalies in Colorado do.

The questions regarding Kuemper and Grubauer were answered, the Georgiev question has not been answered yet.

Stating the obvious.... Let's give him some games before writing him off. The Avs have a good track record with pro scouting goalies.
