If this could happen, the Oilers never would've given up Hall for Larsson. Hamonic is a border-line top pairing defenseman, and Eberle was basically a third line winger last year. Not to mention his massive cap hit. Edmonton doesn't want to pay the price to bring Hamonic in, because it would be massive.

The Oilers aren't going to get anything better than Hamonic for Eberle. Plus, they only need a line two D-man, as Klefbom and Larsson fill up line one. The Oilers need to move Eberle to relieve cap space and to upgrade their D, especially now that Sekera is hurt.

This makes sense. Both players need a change of scenery. Straight up trades are usually tough to pull off but this would be one that makes sense for both sides.
