Finally getting around to do a little manual tracking of faceoffs on the Crunch since that's not a public AHL stat. Will say more once I have a few more games of data, but it looks good for one player (Finley).

Faceoff stats from the Crunch's Friday, Saturday, and today - Monday - games (minimum 3 taken FOs):
-- Finley: 32 for 51 (62.7%)
-- Dumont: 26 for 50 (52.0%)
-- Ryfors: 12 for 31 (38.7%)
-- Usau: 5 for 21 (23.8%)
-- Edmonds: 1 for 3 (33.3%)

The unofficial error on this unofficial data is +/- 2 in either direction.

I think Boyle is more midpoint expectation.

His ceiling is probably closer to what Paul is doing this season.

Sign me up for more of that then. Next season in a cheap entry level or 2024/25?

Turns out he's the same height as Boyle. Just needs to stack on 11kg of "don't fork with me"

I think he's going to need more than a few more kilos. He's not exactly a killer on the ice lol

Something Finley definitely has going for him is that he's shown promise and had lots of opportunity, and he's still the youngest player on the team by 6 months.

Looking at the Crunch's stats.....

Goncalves leads the next highest forward in +/- by +7. Wow.
I also did not realize he's nearly a point-per-game player. Also wow.

If he was a little more dynamic of a skater, he'd be tearing up the NHL right now.

Barre-Boulet is now the Crunch franchise points leader.

Dureau also scored on his 22nd brithday tonight. Probably the best game I've seen him play on the Crunch.

No, I wouldn't put him in the lineup. But he deserves a chance.

Keep him in Syracuse this season and run Cirelli -- Stamkos -- Barre-Boulet next season (assuming Killorn is priced out).

Sample size is everything, so here's the faceoff stats from the 3 games the Crunch played this week:
-- Finley: 30 for 50 (60.0%)
-- Dumont: 30 for 48 (62.5%)
-- Ryfors: 18 for 28 (64.3%)
-- Usau: 6 for 18 (33.3%)
-- Smith: 8 for 10 (80.0%)
-- Barre-Boulet: 3 for 4 (75.0%)

The broadcast didn't catch all of the draws and I missed a few on my part, so let's say the error is +/- 4.

Will take a break from doing this for now. Just wanted to confirm what I thought I was seeing.

Alnefelt has looked like our backup of the future this season. Love Moose, but age beats everyone, eventually.

Quick notes on some of our NCAA players:
- Howard & Kurth have been trending up the second half of their freshman seasons
- Crozier & Duke have slowed down quite a bit their second half

NCAA seasons are starting to come to an end, and I am both happy and sad.
a) I like college hockey
b) Chances look decent for at least one Lightning prospect making Frozen Four in Tampa

Anway, I'll just say a little on players once their seasons are over:
Alex Gagne
Okay season on a bad team. Offense is not a strength, but he doesn't look fully dominant defensively either. Was only a sophomore.

Robert Flinton
Flinton really surprised me with his scoring ability on such a bad team. Top line winger in only his freshman year. Still needs plenty of work, but I am now paying a lot more attention to him than I was before the season started.

7th rounder 6 years away? Let's go.

Elite prospects has him as "Cooper" Flinton.

He goes by Cooper -- Dartmouth game lines sheet every game this season.
I had his CF page open (which still calls him Robert) when I was typing that.

Huuhtanen must be famous in Finland or something. Only player on his team wearing a Red Bull helmet.

By this I mean athletes sponsored by Red Bull are generally the "cool" ones.

Isaac Howard
Slow start to the season, but a decent rebound. Plenty more playing time to be earned with 4 Graduates/Seniors on UMD likely leaving over the offseason.

Eamon Powell
Finally locked down 1RD. Will be looking for a commanding performance senior year. Could be the type of defenseman that would fit well next to Hedman. However, 5-11 height is not what we usually roll with.

Nick Capone
Decent college player. I doubt he's anything more.

Perbix lite

Could be an NHLer. But will need more AHL cooking.

2 things:

a) Isaac Howard transferred from UMD to Michigan State.
Not surprising, considering how ineffective he was at times and his eventual assignment on the 4th line.
They have a lot of work to do to get back to a tournament level team.

b)
Crozier AHL debut! yay!

Note: today's game is free on AHLtv if any of you see this in time
