    I really wanted to get him but didn’t have any cap space, plus I don’t think NYR can afford to bring him back having to resign so many free agents.

    Even if NYR was squeezed to the point that they couldn’t match $2,000,000 for a former 1st overall pick (not happening, btw) there is 0 chance laf signs that. He would definitely want more if he was going to sign an offer sheet. I mean, you might as well just have signed Patrick Kane to a 5x5 or something. It’s be just as realistic

    He hasn’t been electric to start his career, he may very well take a Kakko type deal to prove himself.

    And you realize that Toronto only has 10.5M to sign 12 players? Toronto is in no position to offer Laf 2.7M regardless if the NYR can match or not.
