Garland is worth quite a bit more than that, especially with the contract he has.

If he was held out due to poor play, other teams will take notice and definitely would not be giving up a 1st for him.

Usually though players aren't immediately traded after being held out just one game for poor play.

He wasn't held out for poor play. He was far from the problem. He has been quite good. It was probably to just send a message that anybody can be benched

Yeah, I'm not familiar with what happened which is why I said if. But yeah if it's to send a message to him or just the team in general (seems like it didn't work) he's not going to be traded right away.

I know we are nowhere near the deadline, but maybe they held him out because there is a trade in the works and they didn't want to play with a man down if he got traded within the game since they needed that win.

Nhl teams don’t scratch veterans that are playing well just for the sake of it. That said I thought he had played pretty well.

It is a pretty good contract. Elite 5v5 point producer. Would have led 14 teams in 5v5 points last season while playing third line minutes. He also is very good at both ends of the ice. For 5 mil, that is a bargain

Canucks accept that. Garland is good but for whatever reason I don't think he has much trade value.

Contracts like Boeser and Pearson are okay. Garland is better than ok.
