Probably overpaid, really.

As a CHI fan, I'd accept that offer, but I'd be gunning for a prospect over a roster player like Engvall. But yeah, it's probably an overpay. Most of the time, when people propose a Murphy trade and CHI is getting this much value back, it usually includes a fairly substantial cap dump coming back to CHI. Then again, if he keeps playing the way he is playing and his services are in high demand, he could be worth that on his own without a cap dump.

What happens when Muzzin and Murray come back? They weren't out for the year were they?

Murphy isn't a 4+ million dollar defenceman. He makes double what he should make and as the "best defensive defenceman" on one of the worst defensive teams in the league. Maybe he's just not that good.

Muzz should genuinely retire for his own sake & Murray can be Robidas Islanded for obvious reasons & this idea takes into account Muzz not coming back & even if Murray comes back there is more wiggle room to make that cap space

But his stats say he is that good whilst playing with inferior teamates, his Corsi & Fenwick are all quite good for being on chicago. He plays a hard hitting & solid defensive game & can probably be acquired for cheaper then other upgrades on Rd

Across the board he has abysmal numbers. There aren't advance stats that make him look good. He legit is a 3rd pair defender who has a reputation that is completely undeserved

Please give me comparable 3rd pair D-Men to his numbers whilst facing similar competition
