Why would Buffalo trade Thompson? To attempt to draft him again with draft pick lol

Would be similar to Montreal trading Suzuki, might have to add from a team going the wrong direction to pull off a move like that.

I guess it might be a situation that they decide they don't have a Center but a winger. But yeah this is 2 years out and the only thing I can guarantee is that this prediction won't come true!

Buffalo is probably a year or two ahead of Montreal in there build, so probably more looking for a few vets, rather than any picks or prospects. At this point probably renting guys at deadline and keeping a few year run at success going. Montreal probably in the next wave of success after detroit/Buffalo/ottawa breaks through and knocks some of older squads out. Stack up the 1sts and keep building, will have lots of cash and kids in the not so distant future.

Are you really sure you'd want to move that 2023 1st at all? Give up a shot at Bedard/Michkov/Fantilli for Tage Thompson?

While Thompson does not have a goal this year, he is the real deal.
If management believed Mittelstadt and Power could step up to be their #1 and #2 centers, they could consider this offer.
Two power forwards as Anderson and Tuch at RW would be interesting.

With Thompson, Skinner, Quinn, Okposo and Krebs scoreless after five games, the Sabres are still 4-1 and took down both the Oilers and Flames.
It may prove too destructive for the Sabres to move away from a player they just extended.
The Sabres would certainly pass on this offer even though it would give them five picks in the first two rounds this yea..

He's the right age to mature with this group, and I doubt the Habs finish that far down the totem pole. They have had a pretty good rush game so far this year and the young D are showing maturity beyond their years or expectations and that's with arguably 2 of our 3 best defensemen injured.

Adding Tage early in this season would would in my opinion propel the Habs back to the playoffs.

Thompson does have a goal this year. Nurse fell asleep at the switch and Thompson just went around him. Nice goal.

Thompson's a very good player, sure, but we're talking about potentially 3 generational talents in this year's draft. He isn't worth that, especially with just 1 year of evidence behind him as a 30+ goal scorer. Buffalo would accept that without thinking twice, particularly if Montreal looks like a bottom-3 team.
