Where did you guys see that LeBrun said the Caps are not interested in any players the Habs have available? The only thing I have found that he said was this

“Certainly, on paper, you can see why the two teams want to talk,” said LeBrun. “And I’m told there has been communication with the Habs.”

The Washington Capitals lost the services of right-winger Connor Brown, who was originally placed on the injured reserve, and consequently on the long-term injured reserve due to an injured ACL which required surgery. The injury will keep him out of action for six to eight months. The best-case scenario for his return is early May.

But they’re not desperate to replace Brown via an external source, at least not yet.

“For now, Washington is intent on looking at their internal options,” said LeBrun. “Whether that’s Connor McMichael or Sonny Milano they just signed. For now, Washington wants to look at that.”

That doesn't say they aren't interested in the Habs players just that they would like to fill the holes internally instead of spending assets for an external solution

Out of curiosity, where did LeBrun say that? Last I heard from him, he was opining to the contrary.

It was posted on Hockeyfutures, LeBrun said that the Canadiens reached out to the Capitals and offered one of their forwards, ( Dadonov, Hoffman and Drouin ) And it said that according to LeBrun that the Capitals declined.

Ok but just cause they declined doesn't mean they have no interest. There are a number of reasons that the Caps declined, it could be as the direct quote above states that the Caps want to look at internal options first, it could be that the asking price from the Habs was too high, it could be that the Caps don't like the players being offered. The fact that the quote I posted literally is from LeBrun where he said that the Caps want to look internally first before going the trade route leads me to believe that is what was meant in the article you quoted that just said they declined.

You are quoting me and changing my words. The Title says they are in talks. The Caps (as you quoted) clearly ended talks because they are intent with looking internal
