Description
Did this just as an add on since I wanted to see what a Severson trade would look like to the Jets.

Trades
1.
WPG
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (NYR)
  2. 2024 2nd round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
Not necessarily New York but any contending team looking to add a defenceman for the playoffs.
NYR
  1. Dillon, Brenden
Additional Details:
The acquisition of Severson plus all the young players battling for a spot could make Dillon expendable and I think many teams would covet his style of play.
2.
WPG
  1. Johnsson, Andreas
  2. Severson, Damon
Additional Details:
Severson agrees to 8x6.25M extension
Johnsson just for added forward depth to see if he could rebound on a new team.
NJD
  1. Lucius, Chaz
  2. 2024 2nd round pick (WPG)

Honestly i cant think of any of the D i'd WANT to trade right now. They're all rowing in the right direction under Bowness right now... in my opinion anyway. But personally i'd say Schmidt ONLY because he plays his offside and Severson replacing him and it would mostly likely open the slot for Heinola to come in and supplant Samberg (even though he's been pretty good). DeMelo has been such a stabilizing force on the 3rd pair its tough to get rid of that. But i see the argument

I think Schmidt with his cap hit would be the hardest to trade and I think Dillon brings the best return. Also I think with the young LHD having a solid RHD in Demelo would be good for helping them develop.

There's probably slim to no chance the Jets consider these deals. Especially the Jersey one.

There just isn't a reason for Winnipeg to look at deals like this at this point.

I know Johnsson is a cap dump here and he rightfully should be but I can’t help feel like he could be pretty decent for Winnipeg

Depends where they think they are. Are they competing? Are they going to try and retool or do they go into a full rebuild next season with a bunch of UFAs? This idea is then trying to stay competitive and upgrading their defense a bit. Basically they upgrade Dillon, who I actually really like as a player, to Severson and it only costs them about 30 spots in the draft give or take. That's my thought on it anyways.

I have him marked as pretty much zero value. Jets with 11M in projected cap space take a chance on him having a bit of a bounce back on a new team. I find alot of players play with a bit more of an edge and seem to produce after being traded. I just don't really like the Jets bottom 6 all that much and thought why not take a low risk chance on a guy.

Yeah, I can understand that. But at this point, the Jets won't be looking to do anything major. If they start falling again, maybe, but not right now.

I just can't see the Jets being ready to move Lucius yet.

It was really tough for me to choose a prospect with enough value without trading a future first round pick since those picks could potentially be lottery picks if things go south. Lambert I felt was a no go, what a steal at 30. I didn't think Torgersson held enough value and I feel like Jersey has enough young d prospects that would be blocked on their roster. So Lucius I felt was the best option for that.
