If Kulikov was traded for nothing this summer, I don't think the islanders would do that.

Retaining that much money is worth at LEAST a 2nd round pick
You still have to pay to get the player ...

Depending if Salo has a future in the NHL
If Isles fans only sees him as a contract slot, it's fair
If they think there's potentiel there, a 3rd alone for Kulikov half retained should do it

And by "fun" you mean watching Doug Armstrong spit take at the offer?

I just think the Isles will be looking for an experienced NHL third pair LD at low cost. Likely an overpay but I don’t value Salo high and Isles can go with Bolduc or Aho next year.

Kullikov is worse than Salo lmao. The fact is that Salo is a good defenseman who got sat for Aho because Lou didn’t want to waive Johnston or Soshnikov immediately. This trade isn’t just bad for NY, it’s downright laughable to even suggest this.

Just showing how Boston and Hall screwed Buffalo. Obviously not fun for St. Louis and I know this is not happening just like other armchair trades.

I value u him a normal amount. Fact you would trade him for a mediocre depth defenseman on an expiring deal says more about you than it does about me.
