Can't see mike retaining that much without a top prospect coming back. Sorry, Boucher is not a top prospect.

While you might not see it, the problem lies with the rest of the league. The rest of the league can’t afford Karlsson without any retention. And pretty much, there are only 2 teams can could actually take on the full hit of Karlsson, but neither Arizona nor Chicago, are in a place to make that kind of move when they are in the midst of a rebuild.

MG will have to retain at the very least down to 8mil for other teams to be able to take Karlsson’s contract on, with it being more than likely a lot closer to 6mil. EK would have to go below market value, even with retention, for a move to occur. And the Sharks would also likely have to take back cap as well. If MG is looking to get what was paid for EK in return, he should remove that fantasy from his head real fast. Just look at the Eichel and DeBrincat trades. Value wise, they got less than what they would have gotten. For DeBrincat, few teams would have been able to fit his 9mil QO. As for Eichel, injuries and his 10mil cap hit tanked his value. SJ should definitely take the best offer for EK, as long as he is willing to waive, since it is quite unlikely a better one comes along.

Yes to this. Karlsson won't be moved unless there's retention. It's just the economics of the league right now. Or wait till offseason but I'd guess his value is at its highest it will be. So might as well turn him into assets while his value is high enough a team might give something decent back.

Obviously there has to be retention.

Karlsson is finally fitting in in sj. He's starting to like it. I doubt he moves at all.

- That much retention over that period of time : not realistic

- Sens trading their 2023 1st round pick (OTT) after the season start they had : not realistic

- Sens trading Boucher now after a massive reach 1 year ago is also not very realistic, unless someone gives them 10th OA pick value, which just won't happen

Doesn't matter, this is very unrealistic

And there's 2 first round picks in there, and one is very high right now in the greatest draft since
