A "hockey trade" is a one for one player trade

Why does everyone not seem to understand how hard it is to make it to the final 4 teams? The Capitals haven't been doing that because it's not easy, and especially when Ovechkin was injured though he was playing while injured. So if i was the GM of the Capitals i would keep Ovechkin, and i definitely wouldn't give up.

pavelski is a 32 year old, just like Ovi, but not even a quarter of the value of Ovi. For Ovi, there would need to be way more given up. Also, I think Burakovsky signs a bridge somewhere in the 3-4m fav range (more like 3m). I also am not a fan of the bobby ryan trade. We shed some cap, but in the long-run we take on so much more than if we were to just ride Orpik out.

they havent made it passed the second round since he came into town. thats a big issue. a decade of not moving past the final four teams is rough. you either can either do what Sam Hinkie did or you can do what Ron Hextall is going. keeping players on your team that dont help you win, are a disappointment.

Ovi isnt worth as much as you perceive him to be worth.

Weber for Subban is a pretty solid base for the trade which would be extremely similar. Both elite over period of time and both have larger contracts. Ovi has more goals than Pavelski to make up for the difference in Cap. Its a fair trade.

Bobby Ryan adds goal scoring to the 3rd line that the Caps need, plus he earned alot of respect from me this playoffs and Caps need guys who show up in the playoffs

I see what you are saying, but to me Ovi earns that much for a reason, cuz he deserves it and going to Pavelski would be a downgrade. Maybe if the sharks threw in picks, but Pavelski for Ovi is a hard sell imo, but I do see what u are saying

No it's not. It's a trade that fits both teams needs right now. An example would be like Ovechkin for Weber. They get a scoring winger, we get a solid defenseman (not saying I'd make this trade, just an example)
