Minney offers Jon Merril for Knies

I think this is spot on Dumbas value. He hasnt been very good in years and is a rental.

If Josh Manson got a current-draft-year second and an A prospect, why would Dumba be worth only a future second and an expiring bottom-half defenseman? Especially since Manson was icing on the cake for the Avalanche, but Dumba is an actual almost-necessary upgrade on Holl.

I think the hope here would be that Dumba finds his game a bit and the Leafs can resign him in the offseason. I think Dumba is still an upgrade on Holl currently and for Minny, you get a Hometown 6th D man and a 2nd Rd pick. I don't see them resigning Dumba so this is good value.

Maybe the leafs would be willing to give up a 2023 1st since they don't have a 2023 2nd if it means something Minny ups the return.

Dumba with some retention for Holl, Niemela and the 2023 first seems more likely. And that's only on the dubious assumption that Guerin won't want or be able to re-sign Dumba.
