How Old Guys think a Bottom 6 is supposed to look

Created by: T0R
Team: 2022-23 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 22, 2022
Published: Nov. 22, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
No Skill
Just Hitting, Physicality is all that matters, why carry the puck?, Lose it & throw a big hit, stick handling is overrated, los the puck & lay the body whether legally or not. Like come
on Leafs didn’t lose yesterday cause of some awful giveaways in OT & Källgren making a massive mistake with less than 3 minutes to go, no it was the 51 Hits that the Islanders had, no matter if they had about 30% of the puck the whole game & only generated 24 SOG we need big, hitting forecheckers who can’t produce for their lives (Maybe not Bjugstad he had 2 goals yesterday)

I know post is supposed to be mocking the out of touch opinions of the typical "Baby Boomer" Leafs fans, but I actually like the idea of Bjugstad in the bottom 6, especially for the playoffs lol

Sure they'll get scored on all the time but the hits will make all the difference

I'd prefer guys like Clutterbuck over the flaccid do-nothings we currently have there.

What a warrior, will throw huge hits when needed. I saw a beautiful hit when he laid out Alex Kerfeet. After that hit, he thought twice of going anywhere near the boards

Bjugstad is actually a nice piece for any contender to think of - I feel like he's settled into a bottom-6 role but has a couple 45-50 point seasons in his past, so it's not like he's just some goon. Perfect kind of depth add for a contender at $900K.

I'll recuse myself from any Clutterbuck discussion though, because of obvious reasons - just want to push back on one of OP's points(the "legally or not" part): he actually is a fairly clean player, especially when you consider how physical he is - he's never been suspended and his only fine was for diving/embellishment(lol). Dude plays with an edge but has shown a history of not going over the line.

Do you get picked on in real life? You're desire for violence is ridiculous

Also how have you not gone off the deepend about Sandin dropping the gloves? Figured you'd either have post after post about how much heart he has or you'd be posting post after post about how he's the only one who stepped up and he's small so it's embarrassing. I am disappointed

All I saw on the knee on knee play was a few things: Nylander pretended to not notice and went straight for the puck, Engvall jumped over Matthews body when he was on the ground, and Sandin getting ragdolled by Wahlstrom

Bjugstad is someone i genuinely like, the whole point was after last nights game all i saw was “51 Hits for the Isles won them the game” When in reality Källgren’s awful giveaway with less then 4 in the 3rd truly cost them, Isles escaped by the skin of their teeth & then the play in OT was just horrendous

yeah, anyone trying to chalk up that game to the Isles being more physical is glossing over the fact that one side started Ilya Sorokin and the other side started Erik Kallgren. Not trying to dunk on the Leafs or anything, but that really was the main difference between the two teams last night.
