Yep. A 3rd pairing defenseman is definitely worth a 1st+.

and what price did the other 100 3rd pairing defensemen who were traded in the last decade, who you are conveniently leaving out, get?

If the Leafs are going to bet their two best trade chips, it won't be for one year plus of a journeyman middle-pair defender, a seventh defenseman and a prospect who isn't as good a prospect as Matthew Knies.

Let's just be clear: your window is NOW. Not in 3 years when Knies will be ready.
Tampa had to trade most of it's prospects/draft picks to get players that would ultimately help them win the cup.

This is no different.
Not saying Edmunson is the guy the Leafs need.
But you'll have to let go some pretty important chips to win the cup, and Knies might be one of them.

So we should only use your 2 trades as comparisons and ignore every other defenseman traded in a recent timespan? And you think you are 'factual'?

Lets put it this way. What has Edmundson done since 2020 that would increase his value over the 5th he got then? Has he increased his contributions in some form or seen good results? Not really. Has he changed the way he's played at all? Turned more physical? Nope, his hits are actually down from early in his career. Is he a better cap hit? Nope. So why would his value have jumped from a 5th to a 1st+?

The situation is completely different, you talk about when we get him for a 5th, carolina was about to sign other players that was a part of the plan and he was used as a top 6….

Here in montreal, he is one of the leaders of the team, play a lot of ice time a since he won a stanley cup, any team that want to win and need a defenseman at tdl… for sure they will be likely to pay a first.

That’s factual since the last decade, every team overpay a player at tdl…
Btw edmunson trade to montreal for a 5th was done in summer when the value is not the same as tdl.
It’s call offer and demand …

Any more question sir?

Knies is ready by April, he wasn’t drafted this year he was drafted in 2019 & is about to get his ELC & get in the line-up he is exactly the style of guy we need, He is the last guy we trade, Also Leafs don’t need Edmundson, The D when healthy is fine, they need a Top 6 Winger & some Bottom 6 scoring

So what I took from this is that because he's being traded at the deadline rather than the summer, he is worth a 1st rather than a 5th. Good luck with that.

First I was responding to sarcastic comment Byrr with quote:

You respond me with as soon as knies involve Toronto reject!

So i respond i don’t give a **** about knies because I was talking about a First round pick at the first place.

So I don’t know what you want , but if you understand fine

Btw, thanks for the luck cause after drafting with the panthers very first round pick acquired in the chariot transaction from last year Montreal will still beat Toronto in playoffs 😂😂😂
Matthews can’t defend himself either cause he’ll lose to Xhekaj lollll
When was the last time Toronto made it to the stanley cup??

Playoffs? Montreal is barely a .500 team. Chances of seeing them in the playoffs are next to none.

Don't worry I guess. At some point in the next two decades, you will make the playoffs again.
