I think a trade for Stastny is useful for both team and player, but highly unlikely the Canes would retain. If they make the trade, it’s to do right by the player and to have the $1.5 freed up to use elsewhere.

Pretty reasonable, if Carolina (or Toronto) didn't want those guys should keep them and send em back to minors, obviously don't have much depth so kind of need them.

The depth will be there when those guys come off of injuries...just thinking of the 50 max of contracts

Leafs probably would do this but likely wouldn’t take a contract back. Getting a 3rd and Kerf off the contract count is probably what they want.
