Oh dear, Blackwood might run the risk of getting waived at this point.
Especially if Schmid keeps performing.

(Honestly the minute I saw Grier say he is not allowing teams to discuss extension with him until off season, I ruled him out…doubt he gets moved here).

On the Bruins broadcast, they were talking about how flat Devils looked after their second goal….and how bad goaltending can deflate a young team. I usually think Jack Edwards is off, but think he was right on this.

Translation: “Vilén's statistical profile from the first three matches as a whole is quite strong. A lot of successful crossings of the defensive blue (albeit with a mediocre success rate), a lot of brought pucks from the wings to the center. Of course, this only includes playing 5v5.”

Blackwood played solid today but the team plays COMPLETELY different when Mac is in net vs Vitek

Brock Boeser if the price ends up as low as some believe.
Brock Nelson because it’s Lou
Sam Bennett if he somehow becomes available.
Max Comtois, although would need second look.
Ivan Barbashev because I don’t trust Miles Woods legs.
Aidan McDonough if he will sign.

Meier if the extension is right. I think our best, and maybe only, chance of landing him is if he wants to come here (like Mark Stone in Vegas 2019). Maybe Fitzy goes big, but would be unusual move for him. I think he saves his ammo for the draft. Maybe even takes a look at what’s on the board and what market is doing, and makes a move then.

(Also, wouldn’t rule out selling a dman at deadline if market goes nuts. Looks like buyers market for forwards, but a tone of journeymen types on blue line).

Hey gang, question for ya.
Does Luke Hughes burn a year of his ELC if he signs with the Devils at the conclusion of the NCAA season but before the NHL season is done?
