hmmmm euro Righty 2way D for a guy who could be canadian media hype? Will he be Point 2.0? Or is this draft a 2020 shell past the big 3?
I'd hold off for now.

If they get a top10 pick in the draft they dont trade it for Nemec. The draft is far too good. Devils fans were refusing Caufield, Guhle packages for the 2OA this Summer. Just another out of touch fanbase.

And, Jesse Puljujarvi is a 4OA. Should we still value him as that? Nemec was a reach at 2OA in a weak draft. Not sure how you cant make the connection but gas lighting seems easy for you Devils fans.

too early to call 2022 weak. Remember the tweak about 2020 with Laf and Byfield? meanwhile the 2 non canadians that went after him are better than both 1 and 2. Everyone said 2021 was bad too, but now it's looking to be quite full of consistent depth for regulars. Just because every draft doesn't have a generational player or a big 3 means it's weak. McDavid-Matthews back to back has warped people's opinions of drafts

That is besides the point. This was a Covid draft where development was severely hampered. My point being that draft boards were all over the map and why the Devils reached on a player that in many other years probably gets passed over. The leverage they had at 2OA was not the same as another year with real scouting instead of virtual scouting and little games over the last 2 years in the juniors. This 2023 draft is the first in 3 years to have a full year of scouting. That alone makes it more worthwhile to hold a top10 pick then there are the names available which would be your point.

And I liked Nemec a lot but the draft is most certainly weak then and now with players such as Wright having to fight for ice time.

He's not really fighting for ice time they're just being stupid and wasting his time. Either play him every night or send him down, and they barely played him and scratched him while keeping him up. They finally got their head out of their ass and sent him down, and now he has 4 goals in 3 AHL games.
