All in on offense

Description
Horvat trade:
-Engvall isn't a negative asset, but not really worth much either. Maybe he can find his groove from last season if paired with Mikheyev again. If not, let him walk. Just a cap balance
-First and Topi is Horvat's value. Topi gives the Canucks a defensive prospect that they literally do not have. The fifth is for salary retention.
-You might be able to add in another mid round pick or a player Abruzzese, but the idea of the trade matters more than the trade itself

Hathaway trade:
-Return is arbitrary, I have no clue what Hathaway is worth, as long as the price isn't too high. I like the physicality he brings plus some depth offense would be nice.
-Could realistically be any bottom 6 grinder type of player, I don't know how much Simmonds has left in the tank. Basically replacing what him and Clifford were expected to bring
-Ovchinikov going to Washington would be kinda funny

Overall:
-Knies signing would boost top 6 offense a lot, Horvat solidifies bottom 6 nicely
-Murray and/or Sammy giving us good enough goaltending should be able to win us games. Similar to last year, except we got toasted from bottom 6 offense totally drying up
-Timmins/Benn/Mete/Kral/Dahlstrom is good enough defensive depth to patch holes. Brodie and Gio are good enough to play top minutes, Sandin and Timmy have stepped up this year and can play big games when needed

That's a good offer for Horvat. It covers what the Canucks would be looking for. A good prospect plus a 1st. Canucks will retain if they get that.

I think Kerfoot is the guy who would be traded over Engvall. Engvall is better defensively than Kerfoot and with Horvat, we gain way more offence than Kerfoot has so his cap is better spent.

I feel like every team in the league could beat that offer if they wanted too

It's a good starting point. Especially on CFACGM where there's nothing but lowball offers.

They both have one year left. I think Engvall would be more likely to stick around with the Canucks after this season anyways and command much less money. I also think Leafs would rather ride with Engvall. In the end, it's just a cap balancing act for whoever goes out.

That's a terrible offer for Horvat! Would you take a similar offer for Tavares? How about Pearson, Rathbone, a 2023 first and a 2023 third for Tavares with 33% retention? I've even upped the second pick to a third and lowered the rentention because of the extra term. Sound fair? Canucks aren't taking that PP offer.

Horrible take by you. You should be ashamed of yourself really. Grow up.

Horvat's value to the Canucks is the same as Tavares' value to the Leafs.
