Conservative sellers at the deadline and staying the course for next season

Description
Severson is 28 and will pair very nicely with Fehervary as a shut down pair for a long time. Alexyev needs to be in the lineup regularly next year and Iorio could potentially make the jump. If he doesn’t, you have Johansen and could look at maneuvering the cap to bring back TVR to a deal around 1.75m per for a couple seasons.

Milano-Kuzy-Oshie should stay together. Strome and Ovechkin have been incredibly dynamic together and should get even better with Wilson on that line. Mantha could use a high end play maker like Backstrom, and I think that McMichael could look better next season after taking the rest of this year to light up the AHL. Don’t forget he’s only 21 and needs time to develop. I wouldn’t expect him to be a top 6 player until he’s at least 24. Protas with Dowd and Hathaway works, and Protas could move up and down the lineup if injuries occur. Malenstyn would then slot in for Protas in that case. Snively is a great 14th forward. Maybe he’ll get some chances if a couple guys get injured.

Sheary would be an interesting fit on the Stars. Not sure I'd want to part with a 2nd but could work something out.

If they’re looking for someone to throw with Seguin and Marchment, I think Sheary could be great. He’s a real pest, works his ass off every shift, and can finish. He’s also only making 1.5M and I know the stars don’t have a ton of cap room. Dumping that Khudobin contract for this season also opens up the potential to add another guy if they need to.

I’d rather give a third for Sheary and ship Guri somewhere for a fourth or fifth. I think it would be a good fit tho 👍

Sheary easily gets a second though

Sheary is definitely worth more than a third.

I was working within the context of the proposed trade. If he’s worth more than a third then you aren’t getting enough value for taking Dobby. If that makes sense

See my response to the OP. I was working within the context of the proposed trade. If he’s worth more than a third, then why take Dobby for only a sixth?? I don’t disagree. He’s the type of player that gets a decent return at the TDL and my current favorite rental idea for our second line if Washington is out of a playoff position. I don’t see the timelines working out tho. I keep hearing Dallas is shopping now and Washington would likely wait til they’re for sure out of the playoffs

I had a stars fan tell me that the cost to take on Khudobin should be pretty much nothing since he’s a pending UFA so I decided to just throw him in and add an extra late pick so I didn’t cause a war in the comments lmao.
