Description
If the Blues are out of it or are looking to recoup assets for Tarasenko before losing him for free this offseason, I wouldn't mind seeing the Stars kick the tires on him.

I know inter-division trades are difficult at times, but with Tarasenko being a UFA after the year a move like this might not have a long-term impact against them (Dallas could try and re-sign Tarasenko).

The trade below isn't a complete trade. It's more so the base of the trade. Any trade like this would likely need to involve Dallas moving Gurianov's $2.9M cap hit. There's still some value to Gurianov, but the value here would be in moving his cap in order to bring in the bulk of Tarasenko's.

1) Is it even within the realm of possibility that the Blues would make this kind of deal with the Stars?
2) If yes, what would need to be added in order to complete the Tarasenko trade?

Hawks would probably take Khudobin for a third....

How has Nils been playing? before you guys got him I was hoping he would be a piece if we sent Kaner to New York.

I think if the blues can get a 2023 first they will go with that rather than a 2024 first. Since you guys don't have a 2023 first I don't see you guys being able to beat other teams offers

He's looked good all season, but last night was definitely his best game of the year. He looked very comfortable playing next to Heiskanen and he's handling the workload pretty well. Still some growth to be had, but he's looking good. In a perfect world, he'll be a solid 2RD for Dallas & QB the 2nd powerplay unit.

Definitely happy that the Stars were able to pick him up this offseason.

Yeah that was the biggest issue I ran into as well. Especially with the Stars being a divisional opponent, I'd assume that they'd have to fork up a little bit more than a team that's in the East.

Honestly I don't see us trading him to you guys unless you guys give us a crazy offer. It's hard to sell a very popular player to a divisional opponent to the stl fans

Any chance the Blues could get Harley or Bichsel? Harley playing 500 minutes last year and being in the AHL seems a bit weird.

Way less than zero chance. Even if it wasn't Dallas, this is a weak offer. No 23 1st, a cap dump PLUS retention. This isn't even close. Add in that it is Dallas, and it's much further away. Much, much.

Not saying this would be the offer. Of course there are multiple pieces that aren't in the trade above. Wanted your opinion on whether you even thought a Tarasenko to Dallas trade was even realistic. Sounds like it's not.

Harley is definitely on the table. Still has solid upside, but he's buried behind Heiskanen, Lindell, and (unfortunately) Suter for at least the next 3 years. Similar to the Lundkvist situation in New York. Solid prospect, just buried on the depth chart unfortunately. A deal could certainly be made involving him.

Bichsel, I'm guessing the Stars are little more bullish on, because his ETA to the NHL coincides pretty well with Suter's contract expiring, so he should be able to walk into pretty quick playing time shortly after making the jump to North America

Pretty sure the only way to get the Blues to hand Tarasenko to Dallas is a grand overpay. That said, the Stars are probably one of the teams who would have the particularly enticing pieces to pull that off. Of course, I doubt they would do that.

Interesting, I think Harley would be a nice get
