OReilly

Created by: scarbrow21
Team: 2022-23 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 18, 2022
Published: Dec. 18, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Deadlie move so cap is negated. Roster when all is healthy has three very good scoring lines and a solid 4th line that will contribute. D still solid and with the Veizna caliber play they are getting from Helley they'd be scary in the playoffs.

Is the cost right for O'Reilly is the biggest question.

I think St. Louis would be looking for a first and higher end prospect and the Jets should definitely not move their 23 first for a rental.

So, while O'Reilly would be nice, I can't see it working out.

First of all, for the Blues to hand Dad over to a rival would require an overt overpay. The offer here is not that.

- The 23 1st? Check. Good job.
- A 24 3rd is a 24 3rd.
- Some may disagree, but I think Stanley is just god awful. And that's mostly against bottom feeder competition. I cannot imagine the Blues would touch him with a 6' 7" pole. Eww. Their 9th D-man (Rosen) is waaaay better than Stanley.
- Torgersson is young and plays with gusto, but anyone would be hard pressed to even call him a C+ prospect and his ceiling is rather low. Even if he hits, he's probably just an okay 4th liner.

So yeah, I don't see this enticing the Blues at all. If they move him (which I promise you is not imminent unless some doofus swoops in with an offer they can't refuse), they'll move him further away for something better.

Outside of Stanley this is a pretty nice package. If the Blues are going to throw in the towel this year they could do a lot worse.

1 - It's not.
2 - They aren't any time soon.
3 - They could do a lot better.
