No it couldn't. Not with retention and not for only a 3rd and a fringe player.

Maybe for a 2nd without retention but most likely he will be extended, he's our best netfront guy and one of the only three right shooters we have on the roster.

Well, the premise for that one is flawed, as they'd never have Gurianov to deal in the first place as Dallas wouldn't even take that call. Kerfoot is worth a single 3rd or 4th round pick, at most from a contender and would have zero value to most teams.

Gurianov is a cap dump who isn't going to get a QO this off season. If Connor Brown gets a 2nd, then Kerfoot is easily worth 2 3rds. If you don't watch hockey don't comment.

I'm just saying if Detroit has no plans to resign him it's better to get a 3rd is he worth yeah probably but there could be a lot of good players on the block at this seasons TDL. I really like Sunny but 3rd is better than nothing.

The retention is what kills it. I'd rather lose Sunny for nothing than I'd lose a haul on Bert because we couldn't retain. We only have two retention slots and 11 expiring players. The retention slots should only be used on the players that bring back a good return and a 3rd isn't a good return.
