What? You with the Asplund "slander?" Nyquist could be a good target, but I'm still at the stage of not wanting to be a buyer at TDL. Having 3 2nds in a great draft is what we need in order to help fill the voids in our organization. I'd trade one of them without much hesitation, but it'd be nice to keep 2 of them at least. Then again, I'm very conservative when it comes to draft picks and I hate moving them unless it's for a bonafide player with term.

Trading the picks becomes easier due to making 21 picks the past 2 drafts. Traded zero prospects and no 1sts.

Schenn is not worth 35th pick. More like 3rd and 5th

I think that'd work for the Jackets. I'm not sold on Mittelstadt doing anything useful here, but it's not as though we're locked in if he does fizzle out like I expect, and the pick is good enough.

Perhaps, but we still have a horrendous lack of talent in the D-prospect pipeline. If we can hold on to all our picks, we can nab 2 or 3 really good defenseman in the first two rounds.

Our top 6 defense are all under contract for next year and 5 of them are 2017 or younger drafts.

The beauty of having dahlin, power and Samuelsson is not having to go bonkers around them. Go ahead and draft a few. Trade for 1, use ufa.

I agree with you. I still see our 4th-6th D men as our biggest weakness organizationally. Obviously Dahlin, Power, Sam as you said locked in for the top 4. Lyubushkin I like as a mid-term option for the 3rd pair. Jokiharju I really wouldn't mind moving on from. Our only good defense prospect right now is Johnson and it appears he may not even sign with us. Nabbing a couple higher end D-prospects would just set us up for even greater future success. UFA would be the best way to acquire a great partner for Power imo. If we can trade for a bottom pairing defenseman that would be nice too. I like Murphy from Chicago also as a potential trade target

I'm sure we will spent some premium picks on defensmen over the next 2 years. I also think we will trade out of our surplus of forward depth too
