Add scoring to a team that struggles at scoring. It would give them a 25-30 goal scorer for 2.4 mill for 2 years

At the expense of their heaviest and most physical defenseman, and the only one with sufficient weight to move people out of the crease. A player who has also happened to play in the top 4 of every team he's ever played for. His literal linemates since coming into the league have been thus... Burns, Karlsson, and Spurgeon.

So you think a middle-six winger (retained), a 3rd pairing defenseman, and a 2nd round pick is sufficient value for a top-4 defenseman and a 1st? Let alone, a defenseman the team in question can ill afford to give up?

There's nothing there that even remotely interests the Wild. Whether we want additional scoring or not.

Olofsson's NHL career has been that of a one-way, complimentary PP piece. He'd be a nice complement but he isn't necessary, nor his he pushing this team over the top or worth this much. Especially with how much more valuable Middleton is to Minnesota than he is on the trade market

And for further reasoning as to why Minnesota would not do this, please look at Minnesota's LHW core and prospect pool. Olofsson is a cool player to have on your team, but he's extremely surplus to requirements in the grand scheme

Agree with mostly everything your saying but the narrative of olofsson being simply PP piece is very outdated. He is a scorer both at 5v5 and PP.
He is subpar defensively and is not a play driver. But he does produce at 5v5.

That is all carry on

That's a fair point as he has scored well at 5v5 this year, but I'd like to wait for a larger sample before I call him a legit scorer at 5v5. Personal preference there, but he still is a good player, but imo more of a compliment to your top 2 scoring lines than anything else

Ya hit the nail on the head there, Olofsson is a complimentary scorer. A great piece for a 3rd line and 2nd PP unit
