Hurts to do it but I don't know where he'd fit in. He's too skilled to be on the 4th line. Only way he would be in the top 9 is if Greig is not ready

He is 6'5" 215LBS. why cant he play 4th line for a year?
I mean sharks would hate Zaitsev for a year, but since we aren't winning anything next year and Soklov would be a great add for the future with his size to compliment our smaller stature prospect pool we would do this deal.
(sharks top 6 F prospects being Bordeleau 5'10", Eklund 5'11" Gushin 5'10", Robins 5'8", Weisblatt 5'9" Coe 6'3")

I mean he has great numbers in the AHL but hasn't been able to translate it to the NHL yet. It's risky for the Sharks, that's a very big contract for a team that has no cap room to take on.

I don't think the Sharks would be the team to take on that contract. I could see the Coyotes doing this (with maybe a higher pick) after Chychrun gets dealt

Bystedt is looking like a steal. He's 6'4" and I'd put him over Weisblatt and Coe at the moment. Excited to see what he can do at the WJC

Teams will know Ottawa's cap situation and like we saw with Monahan and the Flames a 1st is gonna have to go the other way to get anyone to take Zaitsev

As Zaitsev is not a good defender and at a 4.5mill cap hit like what we saw MTL did with CGY I would demand a 1st cause with Ottawa's cap situation other teams should take full advantage

100% agree, we lost out on Korchinki and Mintyukov the two LD options at 11OA and consolation prize was Bysted Lund and Havelid and all 3 look like potential NHL players.

Sokolov plus the 4th would be close to a late 1st in value IMO.

mmm im not sold on Sokolov could be just another Alex Barré-Boulet. Yes hes 22 but I dont see Sokolov + a 4th being the equivalent to a 1st at all. Would easily take the first for 2024.

If im SJS I take full advantage of Ottawa and either ask for a better prospect or a 1st

I don't know, Sharks have a smaller prospect class and his size could be needed TBH, maybe hold out for a 3rd or 2nd but thats a lot for a 1 year cap dump.

Look what MTL got for CGY dumping Monahan. Zaitsev is equivalent or some would say worse to how bad Monahan was and with the similar cap situations SJS should take full advantage.

Are the sharks still at the cap? And yea for Sokolov he's a big skilled guy. He could play on your fourth line and 2nd PP, but with all the weapons the sens have it doesn't make sense for him to be on the 4th line. It's a little risky for you guys because he will be 23 in june, so not a lot of runway. But he's a ppg in the AHL right now and has the tools to be a good top nine player

might i add too he's never been known to be good defensively. In a perfect world he's your complimentary middle six winger who's on your 2nd PP. His size will be an extra bonus
