  1. Lafrenière, Alexis
Additional Details:
What is this kid worth? 39 pt pace. No way he supplants Panarin or Kreider on left side of top6. This smells so much like Dach but Laffy's skating isnt close to Kirby's.

Whatever they pay for him will be too much this year. Number 1 overall picks dont get given away. Kirby was a third and the Hawks management is borderline incompetent.

I dont see how Lafreniere gets traded without the Habs 1st and/or Florida 1st. Florida is 8 pts out with a half dozen teams to leap over. i wouldnt trade a possible Bedard pick for another guy that looks like he will wilt like Drouin.

STAY AWAY would be the course I think but ppl in MTL dont stop talking about him. It's getting to be PLD levels of fatigue.

This team needs depth not what ifs, they have 11 picks this draft and a ton of prospects coming. What they really need is an impact center. Suzuki isnt a top flight center, that much is clear at this point. Bedard, Fantilli or Carlsson isnt something to dismiss

I said that facetiously. The Rangers traded a 3rd for Reaves after they got manhandled in a game. My suggestion was to wait until they knee-jerk traded for another enforcer, then offer Xhekaj for Lafreniere. Sticking Out Tongue

He'd cost way more than Dach but we are not good trade partners, especially for Laf.

You'd never get Dach 1 for 1. Centers are worth more for 1 then the production then the eye test on and on. This is exactly why they shouldnt trade for Lafreniere he isnt Bedard. Wingers are a dime a dozen.

Reaves, Trouba & Goodrow saved our season and propelled us from embarrassing sissies to 1 game away from cup final. It was not a knee jerk reaction nor that Wils'on roids performance, it was being manhandled by NYI all season long. JD & Gordon were stuck on softies, Drury knows what it takes to win. Funny how MIN found their groove since Reaves arrived, no it's not a coincidence. Funny also how Trouba has had to step back into that role, hurting his game

The easy truth is that Laffy will cost more than teams are prepared to pay. And all those hopping for a easy offersheet it won't happen. Drury got a first and 3rd/4th for a guy that wouldn't even report to the team (Nils Lundkvist) with almost no time to make the move, And said he won't be moving him.
And his issue isn't skating, it is the fact that he thinks he can glide too often. He has wheels, when he want's / needs.

This has been my consistent view on and potential NYR/MTL trades involving Laf and I don't see it changing:

Quoting: Just_A_Guess
IF there is a Laf trade to be done with these 2 teams, the best time (for MTL) would be in the offseason after the draft. MTL should not move their '23 picks (1sts) imo. Offseason trade I'd send '24 1st (top 5 protected), '24 3rd, Ylonen (who could take the same deployment currently as Laf but at a much lower rate), + MAYBE one other small piece or take back something NYR want to dispose of in return.

Would that get beat? Likely. Should MTL be gutting their picks and prospects for Laf? No.

Dach (3rd overall in the same draft) returned a 1st + 3rd and can play C (something more valuable than just a winger). Laf has had less than stellar seasons (yes I know he's likely to vastly improve but he won't do so on the 4th line) and I'm not willing to move the farm for him just because he's from Frenchland.

Whether anyone agrees with me or not, I really hope MTL does not make a move for him until at least after the draft...if at all depending on the price. I also understand that NYR will likely want more and that's fine, send him elsewhere if you can get better.

"Suzuki isn't a top flight center" respectfully sir, are you deluded? Beyond the last five games, Suzuki, who is 23, was point per game on a bottom feeding team - on one of the leagues worst power plays. Please explain how that doesn't fit your idea of 'top flight'.

While explaining that, let me know which center on a bottom feeding team has been point per game, other than Pettersson, Horvat, and Hertl, who're all older.

Calm down. Suzuki is good. I never said he wasnt! Top flight is a pretty vague statement. You nitpicked a statement besides the point I was making about team needs and Lafreniere.

Lol don't add ridiculous takes within your statements and you won't get called out. Can't go pushing deluded narratives unchecked! Words matter.
