Description

News floating around that Ottawa is trying to move out Zaitsev and willing to give up a high draft pick or prospect.
Buffalo has a glaring weakness of defensive depth so they should be more then happy to help OTT out and get one of Bernard-Docker or Thomson. Both are RHD that Sabers need but Thomson has been putting up more points so i think its easier to trade out older prospect who is contributing less.

Makes a lot of sense, especially since Zaitsev clears the books as soon as we would need to resign a lot of high end players.

I'd ask for more than that if they want us to eat that contract. 1 year of Marleau (who was still a good player) cost the Leafs a 1st to move. That 1st turned into Seth Jarvis. Not saying that it costs that kind of player/prospect to move Zaitsev, but he isn't a good player and has 2 years left. Meaning I'd ask for Thomson, not JBD, and perhaps a pick as well. Otherwise, its not worth Buffalo's time

Honestly i would actually prefer Bernard-Docker over Thomson. Thomson is supposed to be a more offensive guy witch we don't really need i would prefer the more steady 2 way d man in the bottom 4.
They are both 1st round picks that have had some development already. that fits buffalos time line better in my mind then getting a 1st and using it on a RHD in this draft.
