Canucks may ask for a 2nd, but I’d take a 3rd if we can’t get one

If VAN asks for a 2nd, you move away. Schenn isn't worth more than a 3rd, and there are other options (Kulikov, Shattenkirk, Klingberg, Gavrikov, Braun) who are either better or available for less at a similar skill level.

Points in 17 straight and 2 losses…some perspective here. Our entire team was outplayed in NYR that’s why we lost. Should have won the Rangers game 3-2 if we played the defense we usually do. Last night we got Goalied and we gave up WAY too many quality chances to Preds in the 3rd. In all situations, we had Corsi 78% in 3rd but lost xG 53% to 47%. Weird math right?

Dylan Coghlan and the 3rd would be good enough for Shenn.

Luke Schenn is a BEAST!!!!
As a playoff rental, probably only worth a 3rd, but.....
you might want to overpay to get him, because your not going to want to play against him. He will break your forwards in playoff hockey.

I wouldn't do Coghlan for Schenn straight up, purely because of age and team control

Not complaining about the bulk of the team, but Kochetkov has been ROUGH since Christmas. Why is Rod trying to forcefeed a Kochetkov that is not playing like an NHL goalie right now when you have a Raanta that has won his last six straight. The Coghlan issue is more because he is scoring at 2PPG when he plays RD.

Rod knows he pushed the issue playing Raanta that many games straight. He track record his entire career is that he can’t hold up to a full work load. Rod is playing the long game. Pyotr has played 2 games, you make it sound like he’s played 30 since Christmas

Edit - Coghlan has played one game at ‘RD’ and had two assist. That’s math at its finest. the others he played he floated back and forth between left and right, same as all defenseman in our system. Maybe that is the reason he hasn’t played much?

Freddie (according to what Waddell said in an interview with Adam Gold no the radio) said Freddie should be back next week. That's not a long game, it's two or three games. Raanta has proven he can do that. Kochetkov doesn't look good. There's no need to play the goalie that is clearly playing the worse of the two right now when the third is almost back.

Coghlan played LD in the other six games, being in for de Haan. The one game he played RD in Pittsburgh, he was one of the best players on the team. I don't get why Rod has locked him away. Chatfield has been replacement level at best. Coghlan has had 1 game. 1 whole game. It doesn't make sense

Sky is not falling, we get play CBJ next. Each game doesn’t have to be a referendum on the season. 25-8-6 #2 in the league and 5 game lead in the division.

And it could be better but in the last couple of games the team has opted to play a goaltender that does not seem to be NHL caliber right now and refuses to take out a defenseman that has been and all season for someone that looked good in his natural position. Both of these things can be true. This has nothing to do with the record of the team, this is one of the best rosters in hockey. It would be more of a shock if they were not leading the division. That does not mean Kochetkov's recent poor performances or Chatfields consistent mediocrity have to be accepted. Take Coghlan out, sit Kochetkov and make a 25-8-6 team better.

Kochetkov's put up all star level performances in the somewhat small sample size he's had this season. He had 2 rough games where he also didn't get much help from the defense. And i'm guessing he was a little banged up, probably why Raanta played so many games in a row. He'll be fine. Chatfield's been kinda meh. I definately wouldn't mind trying out Coghlan for a few games, and picking up a solid depth d man like Schenn at the TDL though.

"All star level numbers". That's just not true. His underlyings now have him as a middle of the pack guy. His save percentage has taken a major step backwards. Trying to argue "All star" is purely not true anymore. He's not been good enough. He's made the decision as to who starts a lot easier recently, and not in a good way. He's proven this team needs Frederik Andersen right now. I'm assuming he'll be fine, but this isn't the first time he's struggled. Think back to the playoffs last year.
