Vancouver does better parting those assets out

The common CapFriendly lose-lose trade. Vancouver declines. Liljegren is pretty much the only piece of those they'd be interested in. Rielly is an offensive LHD (which is the last thing they need), Kerfoot is a UFA rental, and neither of the two firsts are this year. Acquiring Rielly also means either OEL is relegated to a 7 million dollar 3rd pair man, or Rielly is a 7 million dollar 3rd pair man himself. Deal also makes no sense for the Leafs as there is no reason for them to blow up their defensive core. Also a bad move to acquire Horvat as a winger. He is a centre, and currently sits 1st in faceoffs taken this season, 2nd in faceoffs won, and top 10 in faceoff percentage.

Any trade offer should have both sides looking at why to do it. In this case not done.

That's the case often.
