Lots of room to spare...on that offer. Woefully insufficient for you to think you'll acquire Ekholm, dump Foegele, plus have some retention added on top.

Drop the retention on Ekholm cause Poile isn't doing that and add Broberg, take out Foegele and maybe Nashville does it.

I get the cap dump part of the argument, not sure I can agree with the expected return for Ekholm. I just don't get it. At that point a team is better off ponying up for a younger, cheaper, and quite frankly better (albeit different style) Jakob Chychrun.

Broberg, 2023 1st, 2023 3rd Savoie for a 32 yo Ekholm at 6.25 M??? Keep dreaming. Oilers aside, what team can take on 6.25 M without sending money back that isn't a significant player

I did an Oilers ACGM that I haven't posted where they acquired Ekholm and only sent Puljujarvi to Nashville and it was virtually unworkable capwise without demoting a ton of players for cap savings.. lol

If the Preds were willing to take Foegele then it could work but if not or you gotta pay to dump him then the costs just keep going up plus they're losing forward depth.

Cap back doesn't need to be a cap dump contract. Buffalo, for instance, could form an offer around Jokiharju + Olofsson and not be purging their roster. Not that they need to worry about cap space to begin with.
