Nieto is 30 while Gauthier is a former first round pick with a lot of value still.
Hajek is good and is still young as well who has way more value then Megna who mind you was placed on Waivers and was Hajek placed on waivers I think not

Gauthier 6 goals 3 assists for 9 points in 30 games (25 point pace)
Gauthier is the same player as Nieto but younger

Megna 9 assists in 37 games (20 point pace)
Hajek 1 goal in 16 games (5 point pace)

People are seeing that they are going to buyout Hayes. If they retain half his contract, they actually take on less cap the next 3 years and dont have any of his buyout cap hit the 3 years after his contract expires.

Megna is playing top pair min with Karlsson and playing fantastic D with a little offense but he is D first as anyone who pairs with Karlsson should be. he also adds size and muscle to protect Karlsson. Nieto is one the best PK forwards in the game and defensive forwards. and when he adds a decent offensive output as he has this year his value is decent. not saying your far off in value, just think your undervaluing the sharks players here which is ironic since your trading for them

megna is a defensive dman, points are not his game. Hajek is one of the more useless players in the league have you even seen his advanced stats? he's possibly the worst player in the league.

how can you compare Nieto to Gauthier at all? have you ever even watched Nieto? he's a speedy defensive specialist and one of the top PKers in the league while Gauthier is a power forward that is horrible at defense. wheres the comparison because there literally isn't one. wow.
