Any chance Boston would consider this?
Ullmark is the Vesina front runner and is under contract for 2 more years after this one where Swayman is a RFA this offseason and in line for a raise and deserving of a shot to start. this gets Reilly and his 3 mil moved and gets you guys a decent depth D at leauge min and a solid vet backup with playoff experience.
is this potentially enough to steal Swayman?
be nice i’m just shooting sn idea here and not sure if it’s at all reasonable?

No. They don’t. Reilly buyout is pretty cheap in the offseason.

Just not worth it to trade swayman for that return, he’s probably our future in goal and that’s hard to find. If we trade swayman I’d have to think it would be for a future centre rather than using his value for cap dumps.

The trade makes no sense for Boston. Swayman is still a very exciting young goalie, who hit the inevitable wall all young goalies go through at some point. The return is also just laughable.

No chance BOS considers this. Sway will likely get a bridge deal around $3.5M to $4.5M, so that's at most ~$10M for a 1A & 1B tandem for a couple seasons which is insanely cheap.

And BOS sees Swayman as their future #1 after Ullmark, so it will take a massive overpay for BOS to consider moving him.

Considering how he’s played this year and their cap situation next year i see more like 2-3.5m range, closer to 2-2.5. Had he continued his play from the first 2 years 4-4.5 would have been a thing and they really can’t afford 10m goalie tandem so he’s doing them a favor by being average.

Ullmark is only 29 so he is logically the starter for the next 5 seasons and I seee Swayman having issues being a backup or 1-B till his 29 age season. and the sharks 2nd will be like the 34-38 OA pick and practically a 1st, i could see the sharks possibly giving up the islanders 1st for him. but historically young goalies max return is a 1st so an almost 1st plus a solid backup a decent depth D and is take back a cap dump to allow you guys the cap space to maybe grad another piece.
again guys this was just throwing an a
idea out to see if it was possible.

in my defense historically the max a young netminder returns is a 1st and since the sharks 2nd will be 34-38OA it seemed reasonable when you add a solid backup and a decent D plus us taking back a cap hit.
and it’s not like BOD doesn’t have a top 5 netminder still in his prime.

that is a 2nd in the 34-38 OA range as well. what about is the sharks included Lund instead of Megna?

I mean realistically the value is poor, swayman has proven at the very least he is a solid NHL player, with room to grow. This move does not put boston over the top, there are ways to get depth without trading a rising star, and boston will not be adding draft picks at the deadline. The trade is uneven and the return does not even fit boston's needs
