Yep, I don't have possession of the puck, so I have to "hit" to get it back. Trading Liljegren...obscene.

Sandin+Timmins or Liljegren, take your pick.

Neither Preds or TOR does this. Parssinen has been great so far this year and I’d rather just keep Jeannot. Bad for both teams

Thats a pretty reductive view on hitting. Is Ovi bad defensively and never has the puck since he has a lot of hits? Forechecking and being physical still matters in hockey.

Nice that you are comparing Ovi and Jeannot's 3 goals and 8 assists this season.

Unrelated to the trades, why is Kerfoot back at 2LW which we know doesn't work and why is Holmberg being sat in place of ZAR?

Hahahaha! Good one palhal

Anyway, hits are tough stat to judge someone on. As mentioned above teams and players with lower possession numbers generally have higher hit numbers. Being a physical player in general isn’t just hits. John Tavares for his size is a very physical player, does he pile up hits? No. But his physical play in front of the net, in the corner, etc is fantastic.
Lilejeren, although a Swede (who are stereotypically less physical), is quite physical. Does he have hit numbers like Schenn? No. But again, watch him play. Stop putting all “toughness” into hits. Or just go make a team of Matt Martin’s and see how well they do.
