Agree, Jost and Krebs have really lit those lines. Vrana would be a sneaky move. Kinda be a High Danger High Reward scenario. If he's squared away a line of Vrana Krebs Kulich could be scary.

From what it sounds like some teams were looking at Vrana, but it sounds like there where handshake agreement not to move him for his well-being

Wings wouldn’t have interest in this. When Vrana has his stuff in order he’ll go back to scoring goals. No rush for the Wings this season to move him for scraps.

Detroit doesn't need to dump Vrana. Yzerman took a calculated risk (or had a handshake agreement with other GMs) by putting a troubled, but very talented player on waivers and it worked. Now that he can stay in GR, get right and not have the pressure, it is VERY unlikely that Yzerman will move him for less than what a talented sniper is worth. We don't need players (we have too many as it is) and we don't need capspace, so there is ZERO inventive for Detroit to sell low on him.

Is this even possible? Wouldn't it be easier to just wait until he returns to the NHL?

In January 2019 Chicago put Jan Rutta on waivers.
Shortly after he was traded to the Bolts for a 5th.
Presumably so he could sent to the minors if he failed to produce in Tampa, but the Bolts would retain control of his contract.
All conjecture by me.

The trade negates the waiver stipulations I wasn't questioning that. But Vrana had already used the maximum time allotted for conditioning, so if Detroit or any other team wanted him to remain in the AHL he'd have to clear waivers to stay or go back down to the AHL.
