Why would the Canucks do that given Boeser is an offensive players and don't need more bottom 6 wingers? Why would the wild do this with their cap situation?

Nobody wants to take on Boeser, and that includes the wild.

Canucks do it to shed Boeser’s anchor of a contract. Minnesota declines cause they already have two anchors who now play in Dallas and Long Island.

Boeser isn't an anchor. The anchors are OEL Myers and an imbalance of wingers (Pearson and Garland are excess) where guys like Hog and Pod could be playing on ELCs and cap better spent on center and defensive depth.

Pearson and Boeser are the excess wingers lol. Garland is way better than Boeser in all aspects of the game. Boeser is washed and can’t skate. IK he’s been thru a lot and I hope he bounces back, but for now he is an anchor.

Boeser is challenging to move in a cap flat era if they want to move him. He's not washed. He's still a 50+pt/25 goal guy. His contract is fine. If he wants a raise, then that's an issue but I'd be fine around 6m in the future.

The issue is the new FO is so handcuffed by OEL, Myers and Pearson they have to explore moving players like Boeser to address the cap and that sucks.

They re-signed Pearson too early/shouldn't have extended, they added Garland and Kuzmenko. The gutters are clogged of wingers.

Boeser's contract is fine given it doesn't have much term. He's been a good player, is having a bad season sure but we should be moving players for futures.

His "anchor contract" is only 2 years long

This season is a wash anyway. Josh Anderson is an anchor. OEL is an anchor. Boeser is simply overpaid right now but won't cause any long term cap damage

Well actually he can. Because he’s overpaid for the next two years. Which is why Minnesota wouldn’t want him. Maybe if you retained a significant portion of his salary that changes things but idk.

2 years is hardly an anchor because it ends soon and is not all that hard to get out of. Canucks could just hold onto Boeser. There have been trade rumours for like 4 years now yet he is still in Vancouver

I’m sure they will keep him, insist he has value for three seasons, and then watch him walk in free agency.

Better than to have to pay to dump him like you are implying.
