Exploring TDL Moves

Created by: bluspy88
Team: 2022-23 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 9, 2023
Published: Jan. 9, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Flyers are weird because they're clearly not in the playoffs but they're not bad enough to be Arizona. Sadly this will likely doom their chances of getting Bedard. But, I do expect them to still be sellers.

The first few moves (JVR, Braun, etc.) are most likely due to their UFA status. The Provorov one is more of a out of the box idea, and feels more likely to be done in the offseason but I think they're going to explore trading him after the Sanheim extension and York seemingly in the NHL for good.

I also put Coots in the lineup because he's supposedly going to play in February. We will see.
Trades
1.
PHI
  1. Rooney, Kevin
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
JVR's return is tricky to me. He's been playing much better recently but he's a pretty known commodity. Can't imagine anywhere near a 1st though. If he continues to play well and the Flames stay in the hunt, I think a 2nd would be palatable and the Flyers would want to get one in 2023. Possible a prospect is included too but I don't know enough about Flames prospects to choose someone.
CGY
  1. van Riemsdyk, James ($3,500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
I'll admit I'm a little unsure how to make all the $ work. It would be close. I don't think Lucic would waive his NTC at all. I included Rooney as an idea but its not gospel.
2.
PHI
  1. 2024 4th round pick (NYR)
NYR
  1. Braun, Justin
Additional Details:
I've read they're interested in reacquiring him but honestly you can replace this with any contender/playoff hopeful. I think he gets a 4th at the highest since he got a 3rd last year but he hasnt played as much this year.
3.
PHI
  1. 2023 7th round pick (BOS)
BOS
  1. Brown, Patrick
Additional Details:
Any contender who wants some depth. Very similar to Riley Nash trade last year/year before I forget which.
4.
PHI
  1. Roy, Matt
  2. Turcotte, Alex
  3. 2024 2nd round pick (LAK)
LAK
  1. Provorov, Ivan
Additional Details:
I chose LAK because they're the team I see most linked in 32 Thoughts, Hockey Writers, etc. I could see some others but this is just an idea.

Instead of Matt Roy, substitute Sean Walker and either Carl Grundstrom or Jaret Anderson-Dolan.

It is, I just think the 1st is harder to give up in these drafts. But I could see that maybe

I think they could do walker, but doubt they'd take one of those two instead of Turcotte.

No, I meant the first, Turcotte, Sean Walker, and one of either Carl Grundstrom or JAD.

I would do the 2024 first and Turcotte. We gave up our 2022 in the Fiala acquisition, so I wouldn't like to give up our first two years in a row.

No thanks. We could take him for FC but even then I’d rather spend picks on a useful player and cap space.

Not sure how picky the flyers would be about getting a 2023 1st but I think a 2024 and Turcotte would be fine for both sides

Considering they gave up a 3rd for him last year and he's not been a pylon this year, I highly doubt you will get him for FC. Plus, he only makes 1 million. The Rangers aren't adding Patrick Kane if that's what you're getting at, since he's likely getting surgery.

He was a pylon in our system. Hard pass
