Well Brodie doesn't waive. Leafs or any team shouldn't have interest in EK, especially when giving up so much as you propose. I don't see the Leafs giving up their only truie centre prospect and a first for a rental.
I don't know if the Leafs would even by THAT much better with ROR and EK, over Kerfoot and Brodie this season, never mind giving up all those futures.

He's not just good, he's on a 110 pt pace on a bad team. That's not a fluke season where he regresses to 40-50 pt seasons. This absurd proposal would put his cap hit at 5.75. That would be the best contract in the league by a long shot. Even if he regressed to a 60 pt player that's still a 7.5 mil D-man value.

Sure, he's probably not going to be putting up 100 pt seasons the next four years but he'll be around pt per game his next two and likely around 65 the last two.
HE'S 32 YEARS OLD. NOT 36 AND NONE OF HIS INJURIES ARE RECURRING.

i have to disagree, he has not been a point per game since 2015-2016, he has been close at times but since 2020 he has not been close. Players rarely get better over time so it is better to bet on regression when you are giving up all of those assets because when he does regress it wont be good. he is on pace for his best season ever at 32 that is a red flag by itself.

Yes because he was battling various different injuries. He was also sharing his role with another player, so his production dropped. his first year with the Sharks he was nearly a point per game WITH injuries and after a very slow start adjusting to their system. With a full year, no doubt he would have been right around point per game. And that was before D-men were putting up point per game production. His style of play compliments todays game really well.

If you think he'll regress to anything less than a 60pt guy then you haven't watched him

Even if Brodie were to waive, I think Washington would decline due to Brodie's extra year of term. I don't mind the idea or price of trading for Brodie here and having him play the right side, but Washington realistically would not have the cap space for him in the offseason, when Strome and Fehervary (among others) are due for pay raises, unless Orlov walks which I can't see happening.

Why would SJ want a Kerfoot extension?
