It only takes a 5th-6th rounder to have a 3rd party retain, plus teams will have more cap space with the cap going up. If he plays as well, than a 3rd + prospects would be very disappointing</div></div>
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely want a 1st round pick for him. If a team retains and we give them a 5th, no problem. Easy peasy. But, I think if we attach an underperforming prospect like Weisblatt or Coe it could make sense to get the 1st without having to pay a 3rd team.

That's possible if a team is desperate depending on the 2026 UFA market. I think his 5m AAV is a bit rich to take on as he slots in as a middle 6 center for a contender. We might be able to pull off a 1st if we were able to retain, but I wouldn't be surprised if we can get away with a 2nd or 3rd + prospects. Maybe we can do a 1st + bad contract + prospect

2024 mock two rounds with trades
As much as we need a RHD for the Sharks. If Eiserman falls that far (which he won’t), then we HAVE to take him.
Then the sharks take Badinka with their 2nd round pick

But if our scouts are high on Jiricek and feel he will fully recover from this injury they may trade back a bit to get him and another 2nd maybe next year or this year</div></div>
I'd like either Jiricek or Elick if we draft back. I would aim for the stars and try picking up Buium since he plays both sides of the ice and would be our best defensemen that can QB our PP.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rob32sjsharks</b></div><div>If Iginla is theee I wouldn’t be upset if the sharks pick him but I have a feeling they reach for a RD with that 2nd 1st. My choices would be Yakemchuk #1, Parekh #2 (if either are available) and Jiricek #3. The massive need might take prevident over best player available. They may also trade back to pick up some picks and draft Jiricek in the 16-20 range.</div></div>
I've been wondering if this may be a repeat of 2022 where we traded back the 11th pick. This time with the the Blackhawks that have the lightning pick and 3 other 2nd rounders (give us 2 of them) like AZ did.
But at the same time, we needed to fill up the cupboard and now we need high end skill.

round 1 mock no trades
With the the 3rd pick I think the Sharks would rather take someone with a bit more upside than Dickinson. If there's a strong possibility of Buium, Parekh, or Silayev at that 11-13 spot with the Pens then we'll go defenseman there. I'd rather go with Demidov for the 3rd pick

I'd be a bit surprised to see Dickinson taken so high. I feel that the Blackhawks will go based on ceiling and someone like Demidov/Catton/Levshunov/Silayev/Parekh might be the best choice in that case.

I heard that Robertson is on the trade block. Add him and a pick and we should be good.

I'd love to see Burns and Ferraro on a d-line together again. Especially now that Ferraro's game has matured a ton.

Other than the 2nd round pick. That NYR - SJS trade is brutal for the Sharks. 2 vets that hold the mid-bottom 6 center roles for a terrible contract in Goodrow and a project with KK. To get of Goodrow's contract, NYR will need to give up a 1st by itself. Plus, I think the NYR hold onto him for his grit and his skillset that's made for the playoffs.

Ferraro is on a great contract and is a heart and soul player that can really thrive in the playoffs. I can't see him being traded for any less than a 2nd and a B+ prospect. I haven't seen anything about Honka that's appealing enough for the Canes to sweeten the deal with him.

It really just depends where the picks land. If the Jets are out the 1st round then we're much more keen on taking this on. I just don't know enough about Barron.

Significant Add
The only thing that the sharks would be hesitant with this trade is retaining on Kunin as we have only 1 retainment spot left this season which we could use for other contracts like Duclair, Barabanov, Kahkonen, etc.
But, I think the sharks would say yes, especially adding another RD

2024 Mock Draft
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>I think 2025 has potential to have 3-4 guys at top that would go #1 if they were in 2024 (much like Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson would have all probably gone #1 if they were in 2022). It may one of the better drafts. If I had to guess…
1. Hagens
2. Hensler
3. McQueen
4. Celebrini
5. Misa
6. Levshunov
Then Eiserman, Demidov, etc</div></div>
What if we added in Carlsson, Bedard, and Fantilli to that list?
