<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NotDougWilson</b></div><div>That's possible if a team is desperate depending on the 2026 UFA market. I think his 5m AAV is a bit rich to take on as he slots in as a middle 6 center for a contender. We might be able to pull off a 1st if we were able to retain, but I wouldn't be surprised if we can get away with a 2nd or 3rd + prospects. Maybe we can do a 1st + bad contract + prospect</div></div>
I mean he has 2nd line production on a good team, but on the worst offensive team in like decades. Look at who got 1sts at last deadline, He's outperforming many of them.
It only takes a 5th-6th rounder to have a 3rd party retain, plus teams will have more cap space with the cap going up. If he plays as well, than a 3rd + prospects would be very disappointing

Solid draft, exact same top 8 as mine except I had Parehk and Dickinson swapped due to positional need for Ottawa.

Elick I wouldn’t touch till the 2nd round he’s a decent defensive D but has little to no offensive impact and we need an offensive top 4 RD, and Mukhamadulin plays both side as well so if he is willing to play RD I don’t mind the idea of Dickenson to pair with him

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NotDougWilson</b></div><div>I've been wondering if this may be a repeat of 2022 where we traded back the 11th pick. This time with the the Blackhawks that have the lightning pick and 3 other 2nd rounders (give us 2 of them) like AZ did.
But at the same time, we needed to fill up the cupboard and now we need high end skill.</div></div>
In 22 we needed bodies in 24 we need skill position upgrades, if anything they may move a 2nd to move up and get one of the RD
But if our scouts are high on Jiricek and feel he will fully recover from this injury they may trade back a bit to get him and another 2nd maybe next year or this year

If Iginla is theee I wouldn’t be upset if the sharks pick him but I have a feeling they reach for a RD with that 2nd 1st. My choices would be Yakemchuk #1, Parekh #2 (if either are available) and Jiricek #3. The massive need might take prevident over best player available. They may also trade back to pick up some picks and draft Jiricek in the 16-20 range.

Cost to dump Goody is a 1st plus. 3 more years AFTER this at nearly 4 mil is a terrible contract that no one is taking on unless it's a haul. So add a a 1st to that and the Sharks maybe consider

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NotDougWilson</b></div><div>It really just depends where the picks land. If the Jets are out the 1st round then we're much more keen on taking this on. I just don't know enough about Barron.</div></div>
I mean he's a NHLer at 22. From the little I've seen and what i've read is he doesn't have the highest ceiling but is likely just a really solid middle pairing guy. Seems like the biggest knock on his game is that he just needs time to adjust to the NHL pace and get more physical.
I agree with everything else. It's very dependent on who's on the board at 3, who they think will be there at 6, and where the Jets pick is. But Grier tends to make those calculated decisions if the guy they really want isn't there

That’s fine, and I mentioned I think the Canes would even add more here. The point is Ferraro is the target and think they would pay for him (like they did with Skjei and Trocheck).
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NotDougWilson</b></div><div>Ferraro is on a great contract and is a heart and soul player that can really thrive in the playoffs. I can't see him being traded for any less than a 2nd and a B+ prospect. I haven't seen anything about Honka that's appealing enough for the Canes to sweeten the deal with him.</div></div>

I think 2025 has potential to have 3-4 guys at top that would go #1 if they were in 2024 (much like Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson would have all probably gone #1 if they were in 2022). It may one of the better drafts. If I had to guess…
1. Hagens
2. Hensler

4. Celebrini
5. Misa
6. Levshunov

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AStovetop</b></div><div>I'd cry if the Sharks fall to 4. But if they do, I think there's just not room for Buium on that left side, especially if they keep Ferraro, with Thrun really establishing himself as a true middle paring d-man, and Mukhamadullin right on the cusp of being a full time NHLer. They also Furlong and Cagnoni who look promising and even Pulli has started to really adjust to the North American game.
I think they'd reach a bit and take Parekh who honestly seems like he could be the best pure offensive d-man in this draft. If he can establish a physical game I don't thing 4 would be a huge stretch. Then with the PIT pick I'd love to take Iginla. I don't think he has a super high ceiling but I've said before, he already plays like an NHLer. at worst you're getting a hard working, physical depth forward with skill</div></div>
Good news is....SJS gets the real prize <a href="https://premium.capfriendly.com/mock-draft/277649" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">in 2025</a> in James Hagens.
No reason to burn a lottery win on this sorry lot.
(I don't think 2024 will be all that bad of a year...maybe not a year to win lottery, but still plenty of names in that top-15 or 18)

Barbs amp Duclair
I think this is one of the root issue here, is the trade market is taking longer to form this year. It lead to a bit of an over pay by Van to get things kicked off. The goalie market is always a challenge…but my guess is it won’t be fully formed until situations are re-evaluated after AS break and closer to TDL.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NotDougWilson</b></div><div>Makes sense to me. I wonder then who is left looking for a goalie in the trade market other than New Jersey?</div></div>

TB would be more likely to offer what you have VGK paying for Duclair.

Not saying this is a great deal, but Sturms value is absolutely not in his production. I think comparing points is pretty irrelevant here. Sturm helps you win games, pure and simple. He's missed 19 games this season and the Sharks have 1 win in those games

I think Sturm would be a great add as 4th line centre, move Veleno to the wing. We suck at face-offs and he would greatly improve that. Not to mention also improve team defense, which we need more from our forwards.
Berggren is too much to pay though. Berggren would likely be a top 20 pick in a redraft.
