It's laughable that you think a team with little playoff experience on the roster couldn't use Toews and Johnson for their playoff run. If you're fine with letting Hughes and his 31% Faceoff Percentage take a late game draw in the playoffs, that's on you. Toews as 3C/4C to play crunch time minutes, kill penalties, and win you a big draw is invaluable. Johnson is a 7th dman who can play in a pinch if Okhotiuk and Bahl struggle the first few playoff games.
I don't see the point in the Devils dealing Foote (who might play an important role on the Devils next year), McCarthy and two decently valuable picks to improve something as unimportant as a faceoff percentage.
I mean do you expect Toews to play on Hughes's wing, I don't follow the logic here.
Besides, Hughes usually has Haula or Mercer to take faceoffs for him..
I don't see the point in trading all of that for 'playoff experience' (whatever that means) either when the Devils already has a good enough amount of that in guys like Palat, Tatar, Marino, Hamilton, Smith, Graves and Haula.
Wood, Bratt, Hischier, Severson, Vanecek and Johnsson also has some amount of playoff experience to contribute with.
Hope the Devils don't waste all of those assets on your suggested trade.
Avs probably need a center, maybe try and send Toews there?
